Truth Is...
Glamour is not reserved for red carpets and gala nights. It's for Mondays.
The world whispers be practical, blend in, save the sparkle for the weekend. Well, no….I say Monday is a masquerade and you are late to the ballroom.
Truth is... your commute deserves couture. Not the sensible flats and sad beige trenches the world insists on—but a sweeping coat that could double as a stage curtain. A train so long it trails behind you like the memory of a fabulous weekend. Earrings that clink against your AirPods. People should stare. Let them. It’s fashion opera at the 8:12 AM train stop.
Wear the velvet. The metallic. The ridiculous little hat. A semi bold lip, perhaps? You are not a cog in the machine. You are the chandelier above it.
You know who decided Monday had to be miserable? The ones who treat black slacks, sensible flats, and a coffee-stained lanyard like a personality trait. Resist. Rebel. Show up to your morning meeting in tulle. Let your outfit ask more questions than your boss does.
And yes—respect the dress code (I’m not sending anyone to the unemployment line in rhinestones), but live a little. There's always room to slip in a silk scarf, a scandalous shoe, a flash of personality beneath the polyester. Corporate doesn’t mean colorless. Push the envelope—just don’t get escorted out by security. Unless it’s for being too fabulous. In which case: send pics.
Listen, the reality is—someone is always watching. Not in the creepy way—in the life-changing, chance-encounter, "who is that?" way. The barista. The intern. The ghost of McQueen. You never know when the universe is about to cast you in the starring role of your next chapter. Be ready for your close-up.
Glamour is not reserved for red carpets and gala nights. It's for Mondays. For printers and potholes. For the girl crying in the stall and the boy dreaming in the break room. It’s for you, showing up anyway.
So the next time you reach for something practical, ask yourself:
What would Carella wear to a quarterly review?
Until next time...
