The final fashion week of the Big 4 (or 5? Tokyo certainly is fighting for a spot) just kicked off. From September 23 to October 1, 2024, the season promises a jam-packed schedule with 66 runway shows and 40 presentations to shape next year’s trends. We have a full schedule ahead and some great shows that have already occurred so let’s talk highlights, shall we? Allons-y!
What’s This Season All About?
Paris came in hot with a stunning opener from Weinsanto at Georges Restaurant, offering runway drama with a side of panoramic Eiffel Tower views—we love a fashion moment with a backdrop.
But let’s talk about what everyone’s really buzzing about. Alessandro Michele (you know, the mastermind who reinvented Gucci) is bringing his first collection for Valentino on September 29. Mark that calendar! And we’ve got Chanel stepping into a new era as they present their first ready-to-wear collection post-Virginie Viard. And don’t even get me started on Louis Vuitton closing out the season on October 1—expect nothing less than spectacular.
One of the most fun curveballs this season? Coperni is taking their show to Disneyland Paris. Yes, you read that right! Founders Arnaud Vaillant and Sébastien Meyer are serving us a collection that "blends magic with reality" and will even pay tribute to Disney Animation Studios. Tune in on their site or social media because this is one show you won’t want to miss.
Okay here’s the tea: Maison Margiela is skipping the runway this year after making waves at their couture show in January. Instead, they’re hosting a film premiere on September 30. (Rumors are flying about John Galliano’s departure, adding even more intrigue to the Margiela mystery.) Stay tuned!
Y/Project was set to make a comeback but had to switch gears when creative director Glenn Martens stepped down earlier this month. Instead, they’re opting for a lookbook presentation. A shift, but still one to watch.
Expect the heavyweights—Dior, Saint Laurent, Balmain, Hermès, Alexander McQueen—to make a return. But keep your eyes peeled for some new faces on the scene!
The Emerging Designers
Let’s shine a light on the fresh talent making waves this season.
Alainpaul is making his Paris Fashion Week debut, and trust me, his gender-fluid designs, rooted in his ballet background, are giving us all the elegance and edge.
Niccolò Pasqualetti, an LVMH Prize finalist, is pushing the envelope with sustainability and minimalist aesthetics that are seriously elevating the conversation on eco-friendly fashion.
Christopher Esber, who bagged the 2024 Andam Prize, is back on the scene with his signature sleek, sensual looks. If you're not already on the Esber train, you will be after this week.
Duran Lantink, a Karl Lagerfeld Prize winner, will take over on September 29 with his avant-garde creations that blend deconstruction with a notable distinction.
And don't forget Marie Adam-Leenaerdt, another LVMH Prize finalist, who is breaking down traditional fashion boundaries with innovative textures and shapes that scream future-forward fashion.
These designers aren’t just shaking up the runway—they’re reshaping the future of fashion. You can read more on Vogue Business.
L’Oréal’s "Le Défilé Walk Your Worth" Show
Paris Fashion Week isn’t just about the clothes. L’Oréal Paris turned heads with their empowering Le Défilé Walk Your Worth show yesterday, September 23rd. Hosted at the renowned Place de l'Opéra, this show was all about women’s empowerment and inclusivity. The star-studded lineup of Kendall Jenner, Eva Longoria, Jane Fonda, Viola Davis, and more owned the runway, reminding us all why we are, in fact, worth it.
The show married fashion and beauty in the best way possible, featuring stunning looks from Viktor&Rolf, Elie Saab, and Ludovic de Saint Sernin. Not only that, but L’Oréal democratized the whole thing by live-streaming it on Instagram and Roblox (yes, Roblox), making fashion accessible to everyone. With all that star power and inclusivity, it’s no wonder this was one of the week’s most anticipated shows.
This season is all about new voices, boundary-pushing creativity, and redefining what it means to be stylish, empowered, and inclusive. Paris Fashion Week Spring Summer 2025 is giving us everything from magical Disney vibes to revolutionary gender-fluid designs, and we’re here for it.
